YouTube on the big screen? A quick preview of "Life in a Day".

                  (Theatrical Poster)

It has finally happened people. Those viral videos that everyone loves so much on YouTube has now been turned into a theatrical film. Don't bother watching these clips on your computer screen for free when you can pay $10 dollars to see them on a big screen. "Life in a Day" is about random happenings within a 24 hour time span. All shot by regular folks around the world, showing a wide range of emotions. This could be labeled as a documentary because it is being presented by National Geographic. But documentaries usually have one single purpose and message. While this movie seems to have a lot of different messages and not one clear purpose.

I admire the filmmakers for showing us how truly connected we can all be. But having people pay to go see this kind of flick defeats the whole message of togetherness. I almost expect to see a guy in a cheap suit standing outside the theater saying.

"You want happiness and a better connection with other humans. Well for only $19.95 you can have the type of daily affirmation without ever having to step inside a church"

If "Life in a Day" becomes successful. We won't need to write stories anymore we can just shoot home movies and get famous directors like Ridley Scott(who is producing this one) to show it to millions of people. The filmmakers would have been  better putting this on T.V. instead of the theater because they would get much more viewers. I don't know too many people that would want to pay to see someone's home movies much less leave their own house.

To be fair I shouldn't get too upset about this movie before seeing it.  It may turn out to be one of the most wonderful experiences in my life.   I just can't get over the fact that I am spending money to watch someone's home videos when I don't even like looking at my own.

What do you think? Is this a movie you would go see. Is this the future of movies? Am I thinking way too much on this topic? Well in any case I hope ya have a good week.
