Weekend Watch 05/20/2011 or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Enjoy the Rapture

 Are you all ready for the rapture that is coming this weekend.  I know I am.  It's finally going to be a nice weekend here in Minnesota and nothing is going to stop me from being outside and enjoying that day. So bring on the Armageddon, because I got some nice cold beers I want to drink with my friends and family.   There is really not much to preview this weekend I'm afraid, but let's get to it anyways.



Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Yes every ones favorite wise cracking Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) is back.  This time he teams up with Penelope Cruz as the female interest who has replaced Kira Knightly from the other movies.  Together, they are on a search for the fountain of youth while being attacked by other deadly pirates.    It's a damn safe bet  to assume this movie will premiere at the number one spot. No other big movies are being released this weekend.  Other studios are not going to take that type of chance and go up against Disney.   The first movie was good, but not enough for me to see the other sequels.  I was too busy watching these pirates instead.

Midnight in Paris:

I gotta applaud Woody Allen for releasing his movie along side  Pirates of the Caribbean 4.  He gets the huge brass balls award.  While other studios and directors are playing it safe this weekend.  The woodsman is not afraid to unleash his rock gonads and say

"I'm too old to fucking care about box offices.  Here's my movie you fucking pussy.  Watch it.  You don't like it, fuck you.  I'm Woody Allen.  Get me a beer bitch".  

I know he would never talk that way, but wouldn't it be cool is he did.   From watching this trailer all I got was that Owen Wilson is in France with his girlfriend(Rachel McAdams).  He wanders off and something magical happens in the city after midnight.  At least that's what the title card told me.




Louder Than a Bomb

At  first I thought this was going to be about demolition experts or people who know to to disarm bombs and I thought Damn this could be exciting.  When I found out it was about a poetry competition I thought, damn.  But I gotta say after watching the trailer it made me want to see this performance live. These kids are very talented and their poems are really impressive.  If you want to help inspire your children I would recommend taking them to see this because they might learn something, but a lot of you won't.
