New films on The Weekend Watch 10/21/2011.

(Halloween Costume of 2010.  Can anyone guess what movie this is from?)

Shit, folks it has been a very busy week for me, and I apologize for putting these articles up late.  Halloween is coming up soon, and I have a costume party to go to on Saturday, but no outfit yet.  Hoping to find a cheap Hawaiian shirt  and a curly wig so I can go as 80's style "Weird Al Yankovic".

Now The big movie I'm sure everyone is going to see this weekend is "Paranormal Activity 3".   I will see this but don't expect a review right away, because the second one wasn't as good as the first.  There was way too many surprise/scare moments and not enough suspense.  A good horror movie has those moments of tension that draws the audience in and then it scares you.  All the second one had was just random moments of shit being thrown around the room and loud noises.  Although with the money these movies are making.  It can be called anything it wants.

Here are some other flicks that are hopefully premiering in your city soon.  Click on each title to visit the official website.

Martha Marcy May Marlene

This is my most anticipated movie to watch this week.  Elizabeth Olsen(That's right, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's sister) is Martha a women who has just gotten out of a cult and returns home to her sister.   Problems start to arise when the cult begins looking for her. I don't have a really clear idea on what the rest of the movie is about, but the trailer looks really good.  It's looks like one of those films that will appear on the radar once award season begins.

Margin Call

With a star cast like this, and it's relevant topic. I'm surprised that this isn't  being advertised more.   Man have times changed.   "Margin Call" is a fictional story about a worker who discovers a financial crises within his company that leads to the 2008 crash of the stock market.  This looks really good and would be great to watch after the political thriller "The Ides of March".

Being Elmo

A documentary about the life of a puppeteer may not appeal to all of you, but this is actually pretty heartwarming.   This would be a great movie to watch after the new Muppet movie because you get to see the puppeteer in action and how he can evoke emotion into this peice of felt.

  1. You totally stumped me on that Halloween costume. One of these Halloweens I want to dress as the radiator lady from Erasurehead.

  2. I'm Woody Allen from the movie "Sleeper" (I forgot what the character's name is) when he dressed as a robot.
