The Weekend Watch. Christmas Edition

Ho Ho Ho!!!!. Merry Christmas to all you movie geeks out there.  I wanted to put up this article because I won't have much chance to write anything because I gotta work during the holidays.  Yeah that's right I have a job that is having me work both on Christmas eve and the day after.  I was going to visit my folks but since I have to be back early the day after.  Heading over for just a few hours hardly seems worth it, but I love em and wish them my best.  I hope you all have a great day with your loved ones as well.

Here are some top movies that are opening in your area.

War Horse.

Let's be honest folks.  If Steven Spielberg's name wasn't attached to this, would you really want to see it.  I think the trailer looks absolutely beautiful, but I have little to no interest in seeing this tale of a horse who travels across battlegrounds to be with the boy he got separated from.  It reminds me of countless other movies about animals that get separated from their owners and must find a way home.

We Bought a Zoo.

Of all the movies with kids and animals.  I hope this is the one that gets seen more.  The dad in "Mr. Poppers Penguins" was treated like a hero when he should be thrown in jail.  At least Matt Damon's character has a better understanding and love of these creatures even though he may be over his head.

The Artist.

It's in black and white, completely silent, and not in 3D.  How is this being hailed as one of the best movies of the year?  I'm not sure but damn it I want to find out.  I really really do.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

I have no doubt that this movie will be anything less than amazing.  It's just not something I plan on rushing to see right away.  I already read the book and seen the Swedish version, so I don't really understand the need to see this version right away.

The Darkest Hour.

Damn this looks kind of fun, and at just about 90 minutes. I don't think that this will overstay it's welcome.  Alien invasion flicks can be cool if they are done right, and this looks right to me.

The Adventures of TinTin

Holy shit that trailer looks awesome.  It reminds me a lot of "Raiders of The Lost Ark" (also directed by Spielberg).  I  can't wait to watch this on a big screen in 3D.  This looks like one fun adventure movie.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

From Director Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In)  comes this spy thriller that redefined the genre.  At least that's what the trailer tells me.  This has a good enough cast and I'll be interested to see this, just not in theatres.
