All right Everyone.
It's high time I posted another Girls On Film entry and this one is another behind the screen beauty, but if she ever wanted to be in front of the camera I would be first in line to watch. Of course I'm speaking about Jane Goldman. This red headed hottie has written many movies that you are all ready fans of but may just not know it yet. If she is anything like the movies she writes. I'm loving her more and more. Wow what a complete fun time she must have with her friends and family. Her lasted effort is writing is"The Woman in Black" starring Mr. Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliff. In this article I will focus solely on her writing credits and post some really nice pics of this women who knows how to handle a pen.
The Movies.
Click on certain titles in red to read my full review of the movie.
Stardust. 2007
This is Jane's first collaboration with director Matthew Vaughn. Adapted from the book by Neil Gaimen, "Stardust" is a different sort of fairy tale. A young man(Charlie Cox) goes to retrieve a falling star for his girlfriend(Sienna Miller). The falling star turns out to be a live girl(Claire Danes) and the two must try to escape witches and pirates in order to get back home. This was incredibly enjoyable and not what I would expect from DirectorVaughn whose previous work was the crime film "Layer Cake". This is a really fun family fantasy flick with a lot of great humor and wonderful story telling.
Kick Ass. 2010
Jane's second project with Matt was the hit film Kick Ass. If you haven't seen this flick your either too young or you just don't like action flicks because this was not only a great action movie. It was also a great comic book adaptation too. Dave Lizewski(Aaron Johnson) dreams of being a super hero but is like most of us and that is afraid. Until one day he decides to don a costume and become the hero known as Kick Ass. This is not your average PG-13 superhero origin movie. It was made for fans who know comics are not always for kids. Even though it does feature,Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz Grace). One of the most bad ass ten year olds ever put on screen. This little girl is able to take down tons of bad guys in gruesome ways, but she is also very sweet and heartwarming.
The Debt. 2011
Three secret agents in 1966 are assigned to track down and bring to justice a Nazi criminal who performed a series of nasty experiments on humans. I'm not going to say any more than that because the less you know about the plot the more enjoyable this is. I will say that Jasper Christensen as the Nazi delivers some of the most chilling moments since Anthony Hopkins in "Silence Of the Lambs". He has this way of getting inside the characters heads that is quite frighting. Jessica Chastain continues to amaze me in every role she tackles
X-Men: First Class. 2011
Jane Goldman goes back to the comic world to bring us X-Men: First Class. Set in the 60's,before the X-Men were founded. Charles Xaiver(James McAvoy) made friends with a fellow mutant named Eric Lesher (Michael Fassbender) and the two worked together to stop the intolerance done to mutants by the humans. But both men had very different methods at how to achieve this. Xaivier only wanted both humans and mutants to coincide with each other. While Lesher felt the humans were just like the Nazi's and were only interested in their destruction. This was the best of the X-Men films because it is more faithful to the comics. While watching it I tended to agree with both sides and thought they both had very valid arguments. This is not a simple story about good guys defeating the bad guys.
The Woman in Black. 2012
This is Jane's first solo writing project about a man who discovers a ghost terrorizing a local village. I love classic ghost stories and this looks damn interesting. This project is an adaptation of the book written by Susan Hill and it's considered by many to be a classic. I hope the film does good too when it opens in theatres this February.
Pics.
If they were to make a live action "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" I would put Jane in the role of Jessica Rabbit. Sure she has no acting experience, but she could totally pull off the look. Wow what a hottie
