The Weekend Watch 03/02/2012

Well folks it is that time once again to talk some trash about some upcoming movies premiering in theatres near you. Even though there really is not much coming out this weekend, I'm still posting this. That is how much I love you .

Note*** the Following article is based solely on the trailer and nothing else.

The Lorax.

I have never been a fan of these movie adaptations of Dr. Seuss books. Both "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Horton Hears a Who" were both very weak but this doesn't look too bad. I think Danny Devito is the perfect choice to play the title character and is the sole reason I would check this out.

Project X.

No this is not the remake of that 80's movie with Matthew Broderick and his monkey(although I wish it was) From what I gathered from the trailer. This is one of the most insane parties ever put on screen, but it's being  hosted by three complete douche bags. These assholes make the gang from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" look respectable. My major problems with this movie is that there will be no consequences for any of these kids' actions. Somehow they will find a way to not get in so much trouble with their folks when they should be thrown in jail. If this was one of my kids I would hope he had a fun time because he will  not be leaving my house until all that damage is repaid.

Boy.

This comedy actually looks really charming and sweet. Set in 1984 it involves the tale of a young boy who discovers his father is a criminal. Usually these kinds of movies are played out more seriously, but this has a lot of real funny moments to it. I'm actually kind of excited to see this.

Let The Bullets Fly.

In this Western comedy A bandit decides to kidnap a Governor and take over his role in a small town. Only to be challenged by the local mob boss. This looks a lot like "The Good, The Bad and The Weird" which I liked a lot so I will be checking this one out as well.

This is not a Film.

Sentenced to house arrest, Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi makes this documentary about his fight against Government censorship. He was  actually repealling a 6 year prison sentence and a 20 year ban from film making while directing this movie. After watching this I don't want to hear another complaint from a director saying how hard it was to get distribution for their film.

  2. Yeah, Project X looks like the weakest of this weekend's films - It's like "Risky Business" only you don't care about any of the characters.

  5. Thank you for reading Pete. Yeah "This is not a film" looks like a great tale of one man's fight for freedom that we sort of take for granted here in the U.S.of A.
