Snow White and the Huntsman

Overall thought – Quite a good movie surprisingly that makes for an interesting dark side to the classic tale.
The plot in short. We all know the story of Snow White right? Well this side of it is pretty close, all major elements are about the same with differences lying within the details. After her tyrant step mother takes over the throne Snow White is locked within a castle tower with seemingly no contact to the outside world, eventually escaping an fleeing her land. The step mother hires a huntsman to track her down and bring her back alive. The story unfolds more when the huntsman finally locating Snow White within the Dark Forest.

I was expecting this movie to be fairly bad. I’m not really a fan of Kristen Stewart myself and I take side with all internet meme’s about her acting skills and or facial expressions. While she actually is not too bad in this movie please don’t let her being Snow White (which is ironic to me) stop you from seeing this fantastic dark themed flick. The story works great, the wicked step movie is awesome and the dwarfs completely steal the movie for me. They were beyond spectacular. I would love a movie just about them. They alone hold the movie and captivate me.

Being mildly darker themed I would not say the movie is not for kids, but they might be a little frightened by some scenes or understand some of the significant parts to the movie. But I would say for myself this re-envisioned version of Snow White is a more than welcome addition to all the Snow White movies. Well done, the only thing I would have done differently is to have chosen someone other than Stewart. That aside, this is EASILY a very entertaining and interesting movie.

General side note: the ending scene is a perfect example of the Kristen Stewart internet meme’s about her lack of expressions. It made me laugh to myself while watching the movie. Perhaps her face muscles are locked this way?
