JScratch movie review of "Stardust"

Reviewer: JScratch

Rating - 8 out of 10
Overall thought – A rare and wonderfully charming adventure movie that can appeal and entertain all ages.

The plot in short. A dying king sets a challenge to his sons; the next king will be whoever is the first to venture out and retrieve the royal amulet, which has bound itself to a star from the heavens and fallen to Earth in the process. This event has captured the attention of three witches who seek out this star in order to become young again. In addition to this, a young man also seeks to locate the star to bring back a piece of it for a girl, to prove his worth for marriage.

A completely delightful and colorful movie the entire family can enjoy. The word “family”, to me, usually implies it’s for kids. However, adults should love this movie just as much, if not more than kids, to be honest. The story has multiple working parts that flow with one another and is still easy to follow. There is something for everyone with this movie, whether you are looking for solid adventure, superb locations/environments and graphics, family rivalry, classy witty humor, interesting and fun story lines, colorful characters galore, and/or just all out originality; this movie has you covered.

This highly entertaining movie will keep you enthused and riveted from start to finish. I find myself reaching for this movie any time I’m feeling ill, as it lifts my mood. This is sure to be a great family classic that gets watched time and time again.

  1. I liked this film. It's funny, it's entertaining, and thrilling.

Plus, I got a kick out of seeing de Niro dancing in a dress.

  2. {Shakes fist while grunting} ... that was a great scene. completely agree!

  3. I really like this movie, except for the main guy who was quite bland. Claire Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer delivered strong work, though.

  4. really, you thought he was bland? I thought he was pretty good, not the most powerful of the movie I agree, but I thought he played his role well. Interesting to see other peoples thoughts. I love how everyone can see the same the movie and see it differently! Its very cool, thanks for sharing/posting Sati! :)
