Emma, Stone Cold Fox.

Ever since she burst on to the scene in the teen comedy "Superbad", Emma Stone has been in a lot of movies.  With her red hot hair and seductive eyes, this young woman is a real talent in both comedies, dramas, and action flicks.  The Videovanguard is proud to feature this one-of-a-kind firecracker and highlight some of her best roles.

The Films

Note**** I have not seen every film she has been in, so I apologize for any gaps in her filmography.

Superbad.

This was the first thing I noticed her in and I thought she really held her own in this comedy.  She plays the love interest to Jonah Hill's character.  It's really odd watching any of this cast then versus seeing them now.  It's like watching kids go through puberty right before your eyes.  Still a good movie to watch, but also kind of strange.

The House Bunny.

An ex-Playboy Bunny (Anna Farris) joins up with a sorority house full of socially awkward nerds and vows to make them over into really popular and sexy girls.  Emma Stone plays one of the sisters at the house who gets the classic make over change by just removing her glasses and putting on a dress.  The movie is a dumbed-down version of "Legally Blonde" and it ends up being forgettable.

Zombieland.

In this very clever comedy, Emma Stone and Abigale Breslin play con artists who meet up with Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson during a zombie invasion.  I like the characters of the con sisters so much, I wouldn't mind seeing them in their own separate flick.  You don't even need to have any of the other characters, or zombies for that matter, just having  them plan a heist would be very bad ass.

Easy A.

I would consider this movie to be Emma's real break-out performance, because she is really just amazing in this.  Inspired by The Scarlet Letter, this comedy focuses on Olive (Emma Stone) who gets pushed into the rumor mill after lying about losing her virginity to a college guy.  Since she has established this sort of reputation as being a slut and a tease, she decides to help out losers by acting like she has had sex with them when really she hasn't.  There are a lot of really sappy moments in this, but for the most part it was enjoyable - mainly due to Miss Stone's performance.

The Help.

After appearing in a few comedies, Miss Stone goes the drama route in this tale about civil justice amongst black maids in the '60's.  She plays a novice reporter who is trying to get her first real break in the industry.  Her chance comes when she is able to get maids to talk about how uncivilly their bosses treat them.  Emma does a good job in this film and shows that she is much more than a pretty face.  The girl can act.

Crazy Stupid Love.

In this rom-com ensemble we meet a lot of different characters who are all searching for love in one form or another.  Emma Stone plays the typical nice girl who wants to fuck Ryan Gosling's womanizing character after her boyfriend announces he's giving her a job, instead of asking her to marry him.  I don't know how long they have been dating, but the man gave her a position at a law firm.  Instead of just talking to him about the issue, she just goes out and finds Mr. Gosling's character and proceeds to seduce him.  The two both fall in love, and that's all nice and everything, but this girl is kind of a bitch for hopping into bed with another person instead of talking about her frustrations with her boyfriend.

The Amazing Spider-Man.

Miss Stone dons the blonde to play the very iconic Gwen Stacy in this recent reboot of the famed web swinger.  She does a nice job in the role, plus she and Andrew Garfield have nice chemistry.  I will be more interested to see their relationship in the upcoming movies, but so far in this one it's kind of  bland.  I get that she really likes him, but I never really got the impression that he likes her just the same.  Still, it's worth seeing for the awesome effects and for the hot short outfits that Emma wears.

  1. I've heard a lot about her, but I've only seen her in Amazing Spider-Man. Really loved her in that movie, even though it baffles me why they kept the trend of casting women with the opposite hair color of their character.

    1. Yeah Kirsten Dunst is a natural Blonde and the dyed her hair red to play Mary Jane. Emma Stone is a natural red head and they dyed her hair blonde to play Gwen Stacy.

    2. Actually Stone is a natural blonde. Not platinum blonde but she said in an interview that she dyed her hair red for Superbad and was hooked on the color after that.

  2. I think she is adorable and very pretty but has quite limited range so far. She was good in the Help but it wasn't exactly a demanding role. She can be new Meg Ryan if she keeps doing cute and good films like Crazy Stupid Love and stays away from typical vulgar humour in comedies today - Superbad was one of the few exceptions that were actually funny.

    1. I agree Sati. She showed some of her drama range in "The Help" but yeah I agree it wasn't a demanding part. She needs to be cast in a real gritty drama next. Curious to see how she does in "Gangster Squad"

    1. Thanks for visiting Lindsey. I appreciate the feedback very much. I had no idea that Stone is a natural blonde. She just looks so much better with red hair.

  5. Forgot that she was in Superbad. I love the comedies she's made: Zombieland, Easy A, and Crazy Stupid Love. She was impressive in The Help too. I'll say she's probably the next big thing right now...

    1. If she continues to take on good roles she will be. Otherwise she will just fade into obscurity
