The Vern Accepts Another Liebster Award.

I can't believe it, but Yours Truly got picked for another Liebster award.  This one comes to me from Barry  of Cinermatic Catharsis.  I will be responding to his questions, as well as ones from Alex Jowiski of Geek Juice Media, because I forgot to post my responses to him last time.

To accept this award, there are rules that need to be followed.

1.  Each person must post 11 things about themselves.

2.  Answer the 11 questions the person who has given the award has set for you.

3.  Create 11 questions for the people you are giving the award to.

4.  Choose 11 people and send them a link to your post.

5.  Go to their page and tell them.

11 things about me.

I write for two other blogs besides this one. The Lamb, and Impassioned Cinema

I play drums for a glam rock/punk band called  Parental Advisory.

Every time I watch "Gladiator", I fall asleep.

I love movies that are heart-warming and ones that are disturbing.

I much prefer to go to movies by myself the first time I see them.

It bothers me when people say they are a movie buff, but flat-out refuse to watch certain genres or movies past a certain year.

I wish more of my friends liked horror movies.

My real name is Jason, but all my friends call me Vern.

I can easily separate an actor's personal life from their professional life.

The first movie I saw in theaters was a re-release of "Fantasia".

I have a lazy eye and can not see 3D movies very well.

Answer the 11 questions.

Cinematic Catharsis.

 1.  Why did you decide to become a movie blogger?

My friends were getting tired of having me spew random things about movies at them and I wanted to have a venue to express my thoughts.

2.  What do consider to be one of the most underrated films?

That's a tough one, but I am going to go with "Let Me In".  Fans of the original simply ignored it because it's a remake and most others thought it was just a rip off of "Twilight", but this is a really good adaptation from the book and is different from the Swedish version.

3.  Do you have a favorite author?

Chuck Palahniuk ("Fight Club", "Snuff")

4.  When not watching movies, what do you like to do?

I'm out with friends at concerts.

5.  3D: Expensive fad or here to stay?

My eye sight won't allow me to see 3D images, so I hope not all movies will be in 3D.

6.  What is your favorite movie venue?

The Theatre

7. What movie (If any) deserves a sequel?

I would love to see a sequel to "Hanna" every five years and catch up with that character.  I think I would like to see that same chacter in the next "Bourne" movie.

8.  Favorite movie line.

I get this ache... And I, I thought it was for sex, but it's to tear everything to fucking pieces. ("Ginger Snaps")

9.  Have found footage movies run their course?

It depends on what the filmmakers do with it.  I would love to see a found footage animated movie.

10.  Are there any movies that you really enjoy that you've failed to convince others to see?

I can never get my parents, or most friends, to watch a foreign language movie.

11.  Have there been any films that you consider to be unwatchable?

"Human Centipede 2" and Disney's "Prom".  I haven't seen them, but based on the trailers alone I flat-out refuse to.  There is nothing good about either of these flicks.

Alex Jowiski

1.  What do you enjoy most about blogging?

I like meeting people with the same interests.  Having people read and comment on my articles is a good thing too.

2.  What movie do you end up recommending to more people than any other movie?

That depends on what mood they are in.  Do they want comedy, action, horror?  I usually have a good response for most genre flicks.

3.  What celebrity or artist have you met that has inspired you the most in your life?

I have only contacted her through email and twitter, but Nikki Nova has been a nice supporter of  the blog and my writing from the very start.  She even wrote an article on it for free.  She is a great person who I admire and respect.

4.  What is your favorite bad movie?

Tie between "Tank Girl" or "Howard The Duck".  I can't defend them, but yet I still like 'em.

5.  What is a movie that offends you - a movie you hate for moral reasons?

"Project X".  Acting like a douchebag to meet girls is not a good thing, ever.

6.  What are 2 of your favorite books that have never been adapted to a movie?

Mark Z Danielwiski's "House of Leaves" and Chuck Palahniuk's "Snuff", although I think the later is under development.

7.  Whose opinion do you trust more when deciding if a movie is good or not?

My own, but I do enjoy reading other people's thoughts on a movie. even the ones I disagree with.

8.  What game from your childhood do you wish you could play again?

Twister

9.  Do you have a nickname?  How did you get it?

My real name is Jason but all my friends call me Vern or The Vern.  I got it because one day they asked me what my middle name is and it just stuck after that.

10.  What was the first thing you posted on your blog and why?

It was a review of "The White Ribbon".  I posted it because I didn't think other movie blogs would review it.

11.  What is your favorite beverage?

Any flavor juice except grapefruit.

Create 11 Questions.

1.  What would your dream movie theater have, besides just what is being played?

2.  Name one movie that actually would be good to remake?

5.  Do you play drinking games to movies?  If so, what do you drink?

6.  What is the best way to help save us when dolphins try to take over the world?
